Step 1

In the first step, you have to click on the padlock. The padlock is available right before the URL of the website you are using.

Step 2

When you click on the padlock, a dialogue box will open. Now, click on the valid icon in the box. This option will be right under the certificate option.

Step 3

By clicking on the Valid icon, you will get the expiration details of the SSL certificate of that website. It will be available along with certificate details.

You can also get other details of the SSL certificate.

On Older Chrome Browsers

In case you are using an older version of Chrome on your system, you will not be able to view these details by clicking on the padlock. You need to follow the following steps to view the details of the SSL certificate of a website:

Step 1

In the first step, look for the three dots on your screen. They are at the end of the address bar or toolbar. Click on the three dots to view the details.

Step 2

A new box will appear, in this box search the More Tools option. In the More Tools option, you can see the Developer Tools. Now, click on the Developer Tool.

Step 3

Now, you will go to the Security tab and select the View Certificate Option. You will see the details of the SSL certificate of that website along with the expiry date.

Firefox (v.61)

The latest version of Firefox is v.61 that provides some extra detail of an SSL certificate. That too in the main interface of the browser. You just need to follow the following steps:

Step 1

Like in Chrome, click on the padlock that will open a dropdown. Now, click on the arrow on the top of that dropdown.

Step 2

After clicking on the arrow, a new pop-up will appear. Click on the More Information option in this pop-up.

Step 3

Clicking on the More Information will take you to the security details. Search the View Certificate option on this page. Clicking on this option will open all the details of the SSL certificate.

Internet Explorer (v.11)

You can view all the details of an SSL certificate of a website on the main interface of the Internet Explorer just like Firefox. Following are the steps you need to follow to view the expiry date of an SSL certificate.

Step 1

In the first step, click on the padlock that is present in the address box. A new pop-up will appear containing the View Certificate option.

Step 2

Clicking on the View Certificate will take you to the details of the SSL certificate of that website.

Safari (v.11) — MacOSX

You cannot view the SSL certificate details on the iOS version of safari. But you can view details in the desktop and Android versions of Safari. For this purpose, you can follow these steps:

Step 1

Like for other browsers, click on the padlock. If you accidentally click somewhere else, it will only open the URL. A new pop-up will appear with an option of Show Certificate.

Step 2

Now, click on the Show Certificate option. It will show you all the details of that website’s SSL certificate including the expiry date. There will be another option of Details for further information.

Edge (v.16)

As for the Edge (v.16), there is no way you can get these types of details. You can see some details by clicking on the padlock but the complete details like expiry period or the path of that SSL certificate.
